Fluoride is great on a topical level but there's far too much of it in our tooth paste and especially forcefully ingested through our water supply. Not only is it a poison, it's linked to obesity (thyroid problems), bone cancer, and even lower IQs. (fluorosis) The United States is one of the few countries that participates in this and there's a reason why.
