Mmkay. Gun isn’t really worth it IMO, but we seem to have several people here lacking the attention span to notice he just bought the laser assembly, not a complete PS3. There was no disassembling of a PS3, and it was noted in the video that he got it for 45 dollars. One of the most obvious examples, ebay going for 41 is here.
If you are going to make useless comments at least attempt to pay attention.
For all you folks talking about having to buy PS3, got back and clean your earswax out. The guy bought the PS3 Blu-ray laser assembly for $45. Along with the phaser housing for $30, that comes to under $100.

Ok I think this is a GREAT idea. Now after looking at the vid I’m thinking the blu-ray beam only is a few inches long - how would you increase the distance of the beam, say if you wanted to use this idea to build a cool-looking lightsaber?
NO. The beam is not just a few incehes long, it is being stopped by the wall…wow…you could probably see the beam for at least 5000ft and more, the blue has a wavelength of about, 473-405nm depending on if it’s a blue (473nm) or the blu-ray which is actually a blue-violet (405nm) however the divergence of this blue is probably huge and not callibrated for distance, so the viewing distance will not be as great as a calibrated one. And NO there is not enough wattage here for you do burn anything, except your eyes so do NOT look into the aperature.
